Day 1: Miami
When we arrived in Miami we hopped in a taxi for a quick ride to our hotel. The downtown area had a lot of construction going on. There were a lot of crazy drivers, our taxi driver included. Our hotel, the Conrad, had its lobby on the 25th floor.
We were in “the apartments” on the 27th floor.
We had lunch there and then headed out to explore the city. We walked through the city, along a boardwalk, and explored some shops.
After some good deals on Clarks and a “make-up session” for Amy we made our way to dinner. We ate at Toro Toro in the Intercontinental Hotel.
Turned out the hotel was also hosting a Make a Wish Foundation Gala. We felt very under dressed walking through the lobby. They had some “performance art”in which a man with basically a speedo rotated around a big metal ball. We had a big dinner but when Daryl saw the desert menu his face lit up. We had “La Bomba”, a desert where they covered the table with a plastic sheet, and dropped a chocolate sphere containing cookies, chocolate, ice cream, whipped cream, and fruit. (With some syrups added after the fact).
Amy found her Christmas stitch.
